Transportation throughout Northern Colorado is about to get easier for residents across the Front Range as regional transportation planners look to increase awareness of a service introduced in 2021.

On Tuesday, the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization (NFRMPO), an agency responsible for transportation and air quality planning in cities like Fort Collins, Greeley and Loveland, introduced the latest update to the coordinated public transportation plan to the Greeley City Council, emphasizing a service called Ride NoCo. This free service serves as a single source for elderly or disabled residents to view their local transportation options, but it has been severely underutilized since its launch in 2021.

Ride NoCo connects people with various transportation options to meet a wide range of needs across the region, serving all the communities in the NFRMPO region. The service can connect people to traditional rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft, as well as local options such as the Greeley-Evans Transit and Bustang, among others.

In this latest update, Ride NoCo has launched a one-call/one-click center and integrated the MyWayToGo platform to help residents plan their trips and connect with transportation services. As of Tuesday, Ride NoCo had received only 242 calls and 4,476 visits to its website over the course of 2025. The majority of these users are elderly and are seeking transportation to medical appointments, according to NFRMPO data presented to the council.

“I think the Ride NoCo program is important, but I don’t think there’s enough publicity or information out there, and I don’t know how we can do better in our community and our city to get that out,” Councilman Johnny Olson said. “NoCo is underutilized. Four thousand calls is big, but I think it should be around 20,000 calls.”

Both Councilman Tommy Butler and Mayor Pro Tem Dale Hall had concerns about how the program is funded and whether they would need additional funding in the future, particularly for the services for residents older than 60.

NFRMPO Mobility Planner Aaron Hull informed the council that NFRMPO, which operates the Ride NoCo program, is funded through various federal, state and local sources, with a portion of its funding coming from private partnerships that want to increase traffic to their businesses.

“There’s actually a benefit to the businesses and those partners. And so they help promote some of those mobility options for folks,” Hull said. “As we move forward, we are really trying to make sure what we are implementing from a service expansion perspective is the most impactful, not only to facilitate the mobility needs of folks in underserved communities but also commuters, and helping with traffic congestion and air quality.”

To access Ride NoCo and the services they offer, go to rideno.co or call 970-514-3636 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to be connected to transportation services.
