ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel reported on Friday afternoon that LSU star linebacker Whit Weeks is considered “doubtful” for the Tigers’ huge SEC showdown at Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon.
Thamel also reported that it’s not out of the question that Weeks would still be able to play for 10th-ranked LSU in Nashville. According to Thamel, Weeks does plan to “warm up and attempt to play” against the 17th-ranked Commodores in the noon ET kickoff on ABC. Weeks is dealing with an ankle injury and, according to Thamel, has been limited in practice this week.
So, the odds are long for Weeks to be in the lineup in Week 8 as the junior continues to battle a bone bruise in that injured ankle.

If there is a silver lining for LSU fans regarding Weeks going into Saturday, it’s that he has played in the Tigers’ past 3 games, including last week’s victory over South Carolina. Weeks will try his best to make that 4 straight games on Saturday afternoon.
The status of Weeks will be 1 to watch on Saturday, with LSU head coach Brian Kelly previously saying that his linebacker would be a game-time decision.
Weeks has 25 tackles, 13 of them solo, with 1.5 sacks and 1 fumble recovery for the Tigers this season.
