Deaf and hard-of-hearing students network with recruiters at NTID career fair ...Middle East

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Institute of Technology’s campus held a career fair on Thursday for deaf and hard-of-hearing students and alumni.

The National Technical Institute for the Deaf hosted the career fair, which falls during National Disability Employment Awareness Month. More than 20 companies were on hand to meet with job seekers. Participants say the special accommodations make it easier for hearing-impaired people to connect with potential employers.

“It’s the best of both worlds here. I’m able to speak with hearing people and talk with other deaf employers,” said Emily Nover, a data science grad student. “I’ve been at other universities. Gallaudet University is where I studied before, and now that link was missing and it’s provided for me here. It’s nice.”

Prospective employers included technology, pharmaceutical, and finance companies, along with non-profits and other industries.
