A Redwood Valley man was arrested this week for alleged battery on a student while working as a Campus Supervisor at Ukiah High School, the Ukiah Police Department reported.
According to the UPD, the department’s School Resource Officer was notified around 4 p.m. Oct. 14 that “a student reported being physically assaulted by a (Ukiah Unified School District) Campus Supervisor.”
After investigating the incident, the UPD reports determining that a Ukiah High Campus Supervisor identified as Julian T. Willams, 39, of Redwood Valley, “had engaged in a physical altercation with a student by opening a locked classroom and escorting the student inside before physically assaulting the student.”
The UPD identified the student only as a 15-year-old male, and described him as sustaining “no injuries as a result of the assault.”
Williams was arrested by the UPD on suspicion of Child Abuse/Neglect, a felony, and battery on school grounds, a misdemeanor. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail under $25,000 bail.
The Ukiah Unified School District released this statement following the incident:
“Ukiah Unified School District has been notified of the arrest of a district employee following allegations that the staff member pushed a student earlier this week. The employee was placed on administrative leave when the allegation was reported, pending the outcome of an investigation. Law enforcement was notified, and the district is cooperating fully with the investigation.”
The district added that: “Because this remains an active personnel and police matter, no additional information will be released at this time. Ukiah Unified strictly prohibits any form of physical aggression toward students and remains committed to maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment for every child. We have communicated about the matter to parents and staff.”
