This comes one day after not being on the injury report at all after the team dropped an estimated participation report because it had a walk-through instead of a practice. It will be interesting to see what is next for Swift on the injury report. Swift’s designation on Friday’s injury report will be telling, as it will likely clue us in on how he responds to the injury. But no matter how you slice it, I’m not loving this update.

Between his late-game heroics in the Week 4 win against the Las Vegas Raiders and his superb performance in the Week 6 victory against the Washington Commanders, it was easy to envision how things would look moving forward if he continued to build on the positive showings. As Patrick pointed out in his keys to victory post, the Bears’ best path to victory in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints appears to be through the air. Having a healthy DJ would help matters. It is also nice to see right guard Jonah Jackson get the upgrade to full participation. Jackson has played better each week since his Week 1 clunker. I’d like to see his continued improvement show up during Sunday’s game against New Orleans.
Amen Ogbongbemiga joining practice (albeit in a limited capacity) just as fellow linebacker Noah Sewell misses his second consecutive practice while in concussion protocol is good news in its own right. Don’t get me wrong. I’d rather have both linebackers healthy. But getting one back in the mix just as one deals with an injury makes me breathe a little easier.
The final injury report of the week will post on Friday. Hopefully, we’ll have some good news on D’Andre Swift and others.
