(KRON) -- A preliminary 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck in the East Bay Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenter was just south of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley.
The tremblor occurred along the Hayward Fault at 9:23 a.m., USGS said. People reported feeling the shaking near Berkeley, Oakland, Concord and San Francisco, according to USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” survey.
There were no initial reports of damage or injuries.
The quake coincides with Thursday's Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill, which takes place at 10:16 a.m.
