The Cramps Announce Reissues Of Their Classic Albums

UMe announced that they’ll reissue the albums on Oct. 24. The new pressings include standard black vinyl. There will be limited-edition pressings of Bad Music For Bad People (with the iconic artwork by artist Stephen Blickenstaff)on glow-in-the-dark vinyl. Special editions of Psychedelic Jungle will come in fluorescent green.

Lux Interior (born Erick Lee Purkhiser) and Poison Ivy (Kristy Wallace) were the only consistent members during The Cramps' rock and roll rampage. Songs That The Lord Taught Us, the album that Classic Rock said remains “unbeatably exciting” all these years later, featured the late Bryan Greggory on guitar and Nick Knox on drums.

And in 2002, they appeared on an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants—as the puppet band The Bird Brains—to perform “Underwater Sun.”

“Listen to old records and try to understand the feelings that were going on,” Lux told Making Musicin 1986. “Try and understand what was great about rock a roll, or the mid-sixties. Don't just copy songs or fashions, but try to understand what was happening in culture at the time. Great rock & roll is timeless, whether it's 20 years or two years old.”
