Alabama would like to get its struggling rushing attack going when it hosts Tennessee this weekend, and the return of veteran tailback Jam Miller could go a long way in making that happen.
The Crimson Tide currently average a meager 126.5 yards per game on the ground, which has put a lot on the shoulders of quarterback Ty Simpson (although he hasn’t seemed to mind).
Miller entered the season expecting to be the featured back in Alabama’s offense, but preseason injuries forced him to miss time before he returned for the game against Georgia on Sept. 27.
But after he racked up 267 yards and a touchdown over the course of nearly 3 games, Miller exited the Tide’s matchup with Missouri last Saturday due to a concussion he suffered when he landed hard on the turf.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on Miller’s status during his weekly ‘Hey Coach’ talk show, although it did not reveal much new knowledge.
“[He’s] continuing to move along here throughout the week…He’s making good progress,” DeBoer said. “We’re not sure yet where that stands. We’re gonna think optimistically. But there steps…It can go a lot of different directions.”

— Mike Rodak (@mikerodak) October 15, 2025Miller was predictably listed as ‘questionable’ on Alabama‘s Wednesday night injury report, meaning that his status will likely continue to be up in the air as Saturday approaches.
The Crimson Tide and Volunteers will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET, with the game being broadcast by ABC.
