You’re not sneaky, Bucks!
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Monday that the Milwaukee Bucks have done it again. The organization plans to sign Alex Antetokounmpo to one of its two-way contracts this season. Every franchise is awarded three two-way spots on its active roster, which allows for a player to split his time between the NBA and the team’s G League affiliate. In this case, that would be the Wisconsin Herd.
The signing gives the Bucks their THIRD Antetokounmpo on the roster. They re-signed the oldest brother of Giannis, Thanasis, this offseason following his recovery from a torn Achilles. As Shams Charania notes, this is now the first time in NBA history that three brothers have been on the same roster.

For what it’s worth, this is not the first time the Bucks have brought in Alex Antetokounmpo. After spending some time with the Toronto Raptors’ G League affiliate, Alex went on to ink two separate deals with Milwaukee and suit up for the Wisconsin Herd in 2022 and 2023. He spent a portion of the 2024-25 campaign overseas, playing for PAOK B.C. of the Greek Basketball League.
Alex’s G League career has left a lot to be desired. Over his 65 career games, he has averaged just 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting 36.7 percent from the field. With that being the case, it’s hard to view this decision by Milwaukee as anything other than a move to appease their semi-disgruntled superstar.
Indeed, Giannis has been caught up in trade rumors all summer long. The Bucks have fallen out of the playoffs in three straight seasons, and this has seemingly led the Greek Freak to rethink his situation. In recent weeks, he has even confirmed reports that he pondered other options this offseason and claimed he is always actively evaluating his team’s position in the league. News also surfaced that he specifically named the Knicks as a destination where he would be comfortable going, which led the Knicks to assess that road this summer.
How locked in Giannis is for the upcoming season remains a terrifyingly real question for the Bucks, which could very well be why they went out and added another one of his siblings to the mix. Many other players arguably would have been more deserving of the two-way slot, but none of those names would mean as much to Giannis!
Heck, you might as well sign Kostas at this point! Don’t stop now!
