Love For Troy, Moore Scores Twice, Hat Trick for Vanacker, Learning Blashill, and Other Blackhawks Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

Almost three years ago, I wrote about Troy Murray as a bona fide Blackhawks legend. Troy was only 23 years old when he won the Selke Trophy after the 1985-86 season. He had 99 points that year. Only five players in the history of the NHL have won the Selke and recorded at least 90 points in the same season: Doug Gilmour, Sergei Federov, Pavel Datsyuk, Anže Kopitar and Troy Murray. He was a terrific hockey player for a long time, appearing in 915 regular season games and winning a Stanley Cup with the Avs in 1996.

I’ve known Troy for a number of years now. He is truly one of the kindest souls in the hockey universe. We have cracked each other up more times than I can count during practices and between periods just talking about random dumb stuff, a lot of which might not even be related to the Blackhawks.

On Saturday night, Troy wasn’t next to John Wiedeman in the WGN Radio booth. He wasn’t on the red carpet with the other alumni. He wasn’t where he should be: receiving a loud ovation, shaking hands and signing autographs. Because Troy’s in a fight right now.

He’ll hate that I’m writing this, but Troy needs all of your prayers, good thoughts, positive vibes, mojo, whatever you want to call it. Keep him in your thoughts. The hockey world — Blackhawks nation — is a better place because of Troy Murray. And I’m hopeful for the day we see him back in the booth with a smile on his face because there’s hockey happening at the United Center.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the Centennial hype video the Blackhawks showed on Saturday night. It’s incredibly well done.

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) October 12, 2025 A good read here from Ben Pope at the Chicago Sun-Times on what we’re learning from and about new Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill as the regular season progresses.

Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill is trying to personally savor every day.“The one thing that I said to myself, comparative to my first job, was to make sure you enjoy it.”That and more things we’ve learned about Blashill this week: t.co/XHqPEleNkS

— Ben Pope (@BenPopeCST) October 12, 2025 Oliver Moore scored his first professional goal for the IceHogs on Sunday. He also scored his second professional goal and added an assist in Rockford’s 6-2 win at Iowa. Nick Lardis, Samuel Savoie, Ryan Mast and (yes, goaltender) Stanislav Berezhnoy each had one assist. If he continues to look good in Rockford, it’s only a matter of time before he gets an Uber back to Chicago.

— Rockford IceHogs (@goicehogs) October 12, 2025 How about a Sunday afternoon hat trick from Blackhawks prospect Marek Vanacker for Brantford? Vanacker had three goals and one assist in an 8-5 Bulldogs win over Ottawa. Vanacker is now tied for the OHL lead with eight goals scored this season — he’s done that in only six games!
