Luton Town have confirmed that Jack Wilshere has been appointed as the club’s new manager.
Wilshere has replaced Matt Bloomfield as boss, taking his first permanent senior managerial role.

The former Arsenal and England midfielder began his coaching career with the Gunners’ U18 side.
He moved on to join ex-Norwich manager Johannes Hoff Thorup’s coaching staff at Carrow Road in October 2024.
Wilshere then took charge of the Canaries following Hoff Thorup’s departure, not losing either of his games in the hot seat.
However, his interim spell didn’t lead to a permanent role despite holding talks over a full-time position.
Now, five months later, he has joined Luton to try and turn around the club’s fortunes after a poor start to the season.
The Hatters sit 11th in League One after 11 games this campaign.
Wilshere said after he was announced as boss: “It’s a huge honour and a privilege to be named Luton Town manager.
“It feels like a full-circle moment for me. I was eight when I first came to Luton as a boy, so I guess you could say it’s fate that my first full-time club managerial position is at this club.
“I couldn’t be more delighted to be here – I can’t wait to manage this football club.”

Who is Wilshere’s assistant?
Wilshere’s No.2 will be former Premier League defender and ex-England coach, Powell.
The 56-year-old boasts a wealth of coaching experience, having enjoyed spells at England, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester.
He worked alongside Gareth Southgate with the Three Lions at Euro 2020 and at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Powell left the national side in 2023 and has since taken on roles at Sheffield Wednesday and Walsall.
The former defender, who played for Charlton and West Ham in the Premier League, only joined Walsall on an interim basis two weeks ago.
But he’s now going to be working with Wilshere to help provide an experienced head to the young manager’s staff.

Stelling said: “It’s a big risk for Luton. Any appointment is a risk, as we have seen with countless big-name players fail at management.
“We have seen some succeed as well, but my concern with Jack is expectation.
“What has he got to do? They’re midtable at the moment and that’s not good enough for Luton, so he has to get play-offs minimum.
“I think actually he’ll be being told he has to get automatic promotion, and that’s a big ask for a young manager.
“There’s a lot of pressure on Jack, I wish him well.”

Wilshere will take charge of his first game as Luton boss on Saturday, October 18 at home to Mansfield Town.
He will be introduced to the Hatters fans at Kenilworth Road and will hope to get started with three points.
An away trip to Northampton follows that game on October 25, before an EFL Trophy clash against Brighton U21s comes next.
Games against Stockport and Rotherham wrap up Wilshere’s first five fixtures in the dugout.
Luton currently sit 11th in League One after back-to-back relegations from the Premier League and Championship.
