No. 8 Alabama edged out No. 14 Missouri for a 27-24 road victory on Saturday to earn a fifth consecutive win. Yet, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson isn’t fully satisfied with his performance.
Simpson completed 23 of his 31 passes for 200 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions. The 6-foot-2 junior connected with Kevin Riley for a 6-yard score in the first quarter, then hooked up with Isaiah Horton on a 16-yard score in the second quarter. Simpson’s 1-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Hill extended Alabama’s lead to 27-17 with 3:16 to go.
However, Simpson is focusing on the areas of improvement that he wants to work on.
“Too many sacks. Didn’t throw the ball great,” Simpson told reporters after the game. “Not a good average yards-per-play. Held the ball a lot longer than they did. Not very clean.”

— Blake Byler (@blakebyler45) October 11, 2025Simpson has now thrown 16 touchdowns and only 1 interception this season. Alabama is now 5-1 after a season-opening loss against then-unranked Florida State.
Next up for Simpson and Alabama is a key home matchup against No. 12 Tennessee in primetime on Oct. 18 (7:30 p.m. ET/ABC). Alabama leads the all-time series 59-40-7. However, the Crimson Tide will be looking to avenge last season’s 24-17 loss in Knoxville.
