Theo Benedet, your table is ready.
Chicago Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson confirmed that the second-year player would start at left tackle for the team in its game against the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. He also shared a comment about Saturday night’s NLDS Game 5 between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers:
Bears head coach Ben Johnson did confirm that Theo Benedet will start at left tackle. And he ended his Saturday press conference with, "Go Cubs."

This will be Benedet’s second career start, but first at the position responsible for blocking quarterback Caleb Williams’ backside. If you’ll recall, Benedet started at right tackle in the Bears’ Week 4 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. And while he did start on the right side in Week 4, he finished on the left side. As for the situation on the other side of the line, let’s discuss that on the other side of the jump.
Chicago Bears Injury Report — Week 6 Update
Hours after sharing the starting left tackle news, the Bears shared their final injury report of the week. This is what it looks like:

— Bears Communications (@BearsPR) October 11, 2025We’ll start with the good news, where a whole mess of players have no game day designations next to their names. In other words, the following injured players are good to go for the MNF showdown between the Bears and Commanders:
Safety Jaquan Brisker (quad) Linebacker T.J. Edwards (hamstring) Cornerback Kyler Gordon (hamstring) Right guard Jonah Jackson (rib) Running back Kyle Monangai (thigh) Right tackle Darnell Wright (elbow)What You Need to Know About the Next BN Watch Party Monday, Oct. 13 (starting at 6 p.m.) It could also be an NLCS Watch Party if the Cubs handle business in Game 5 Frontier Chicago – 1072 N. Milwaukee Ave. Free drinks through halftime! RSVP to save a spot: luma.com/t5b02xr8[image or embed]
— Bleacher Nation Bears (@bn-bears.bsky.social) October 10, 2025 at 9:29 AMDarnell Wright getting the upgrade from limited participation to being a full-go puts the regular right tackle in a position to start in Week 6. Wright didn’t play in the team’s Week 4 game against the Raiders because of the elbow injury he suffered in the Week 3 win against the Dallas Cowboys. Had Wright not been able to give it ago, it would have lined Ozzy Trapilo to make his first NFL start at right tackle. Trapilo played well in relief of Benedet when the team moved him to the other side of the line and slid regular starting left tackle Braxton Jones to the bunch.
BEARS VS. COMMANDERS WEEK 6 PREVIEW — THE REMATCH
The following players were full participants in practice on Saturday, but are listed as questionable for the Monday Night Football game: Defensive lineman Anthony Booker, running back Travis Homer, tight end Colston Loveland, and kicker Cairo Santos. I feel like it is odd to see Santos be a full participant at practice, but listed as questionable for the game. Perhaps this allows for an opportunity for Jake Moody to be elevated from the practice squad.
Booker and Homer were also listed as questionable after being full participants in practice. The Bears have until 3 p.m. CT on Monday to activate Booker and Homer from injured reserve. Can you find two players you can clear off the roster to make room before then? I’m sure some folks have opinions on who should go.
In the end, the only bummer from the Bears injury report is that defensive tackle Grady Jarrett has been ruled out. This will be his second consecutive missed game. I’m hoping getting three weeks off his injured knee will help him be prepared for the stretch run.
On the other side of the field, the Washington Commanders have already ruled out (h/t ESPN’s Adam Schefter) wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown are out this week.
