Alabama freshman receiver Derek Meadows was rocked by Missouri safety Marvin Burks Jr. late in the first quarter Saturday after attempting to catch a pass from Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson.
Meadows ran a go route down the Alabama sideline on a 2nd-and-7 play from the Tide’s 46-yard line with 3:38 to play in the first quarter. Burks hit Meadows high as the ball arrived at the Mizzou 30, and Meadows immediately fell to the turf motionless while penalty flags rained in.

Burks was flagged for targeting and was ejected from the game while Alabama head trainer Jeff Allen and trainers stabilized the face-down Meadows’ neck to roll him over.
Meadows was able to leave the field on his feet with help from trainers. ABC’s Katie George reported that Meadows was able to move all his extremities during on-field tests and was eventually helped to his feet and to the medical tent.
