Ronda Rousey makes honest Paddy Pimblett admission when reflecting on UFC career: ‘I really appreciate him’ ...Middle East

Ronda Rousey has lauded Paddy Pimblett for recognising his ‘entertainer’ status in the UFC.

Pimblett has been riding a wave to superstardom in Dana White‘s promotion since his 2021 debut, just like Rousey when she became the first UFC women’s champion by submitting Liz Carmouche in 2013.

The Liverpudlian dominated fellow top-ranked lightweight Michael Chandler in his last fight at UFC 314 and is now eyeing up a shot at Ilia Topuria’s title.

Pimblett built up a strong MMA following before he even made it to the UFC due to his larger than life personality and flashy hair, and has continued this momentum in the last four years, selling out arenas as one of the promotion’s biggest stars.

He has managed to stay at the top by entertaining fans inside and outside of the Octagon, and his ability to hone in on this side of the business while remaining a talented fighter is something Rousey has picked up on.

Ronda Rousey: I appreciate Paddy Pimblett for being an entertainer

“That’s what I think really matters, that you can make people know who you are, that don’t watch fighting,” Rousey said, speaking to MMA Fighting.

“And that is how you command the being an entertainer aspect. I think a lot of the fighters don’t realise that they’re also entertainers.

“The one person I think who does really realise that is Paddy Pimblett, and so I really appreciate him.”

Rousey back training amid UFC White House rumours

Rousey, who retired from MMA in 2016 after losing consecutive title bouts, has sparked rumours about making a UFC comeback over the last few months.

In July, six months after welcoming her second child to the world, Rousey posted training footage of her back rolling on the mats, leaving several fans talking about her potential return.

This has since been heightened by UFC CEO White’s partnership with US President Donald Trump to bring his promotion to the White House next year.

Although Rousey played down talks of making a return at the White House in 2026 last month, ‘Rowdy’ has continued to tease a comeback by declaring she has found her love for the sport again.

Speaking to TMZ Sports earlier this week, Rousey described how good it has been to get back to training.

“I’m just enjoying being in the gym again, and feel a lot better and a lot healthier,” Rousey said.

“Have you ever had kids? It feels like being f***ing handicapped being pregnant.

“It just feels really good to get that freedom of movement back, getting back to training for the love of it.

“I feel like that’s something I lost before. I’m enjoying myself.”

White was asked about any conversations with Rousey regarding her returning after UFC 320 this past weekend.

White still keeps in contract with Rousey roughly every three months – but doesn’t know if she would want to return at the White HouseGetty

“Her and I are still very close,” White said.

“I would say we probably talk once every three months or something like that and she was in Vegas recently.

“She came by the offices but I don’t know what her plans are. I think she’s just training again.

“She just had two babies and she’s in a whole other place in her life.

“But I will say this, she just had another baby and she’s in great shape right now. She’s freaking ripped like she used to be. I don’t know.”
