In a video posted to TikTok Monday, Oct. 6, the singer addressed his absence from the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards and explained why he no longer felt comfortable attending awards shows.
"I feel a conviction to go even a step further and say, 'I don’t know if I even want to step on the stage; I don’t know if I want to step in the room.' I have decided to take a stance of non-participation. I will not be attending the Doves or the Grammys," he continued. "I hope to be an example to the youth that the trophy is our salvation. The trophy is that my name is listed in the book of life, and I get to have eternal life. What good is a piece of metal going to do compared to that?"
Following the decision, Frank was questioned by Christians who found it hypocritical to reject awards for his music, but still profit off of it. One of those people was Jelly Roll, who recently dabbled in Christian music with the Brandon Lake collaboration "Hard Fought Hallelujah."
He added another comment under the post, however, that was more critical of the Christian star.

"Wow, your true colors are really showing through with that comment," wrote one fan to Jelly Roll. "Yet @jellyroll615 claims to speak the truth of Jesus while with @brandonlake but then has Eminem on stage and has a whole new way of talking....." said another.
Jelly Roll was also nominated for "Hard Fought Hallelujah," ultimately losing to That's My King" by CeCe Winans.
