Out today, Friday, Oct. 10, and available exclusively on Apple Music, the tune—written by Keith, alongside David Lee Murphy and Bobby Pinson—dropped as part of Apple Music’s second installment of Lost & Found, a program that makes previously unreleased tracks available to fans.
“You know, I’ll never be able to sing a Toby Keith song as good as Toby Keith can sing a Toby Keith song, but I’m gonna give it hell to sing it the best that I can, for sure,” Ernest said in a statement of how he reimagined the original raw demo recording to make it his own. “It’s cool to hear how raw it was, and how much energy and how much power… til the day he died, that man sang with everything.”
Written over a decade ago in August 2015, and newly recorded in Spacial Audio, “End of the Night” features a relaxed and breezy melody along with the lyrics: “It ain't the end of the world / No, it ain't even close / Can't keep holding on to the end of that road / It ain't the end of the road / There's still a whole lot to ride / It ain't the end of the world / Just the end of the night / Ah, yeah.”
“This was always one of my favorites, and it was Ernest’s favorite too,” Pinson shared in a statement. “He did a great job on it. When [Apple Music] asked me about this project and said, ‘What do we have?’ it was like Christmas. It was like finding a dollar in your pocket.”

Toby Keith Was Just as Big a Songwriter as He Was an Artist
As many may or may not know, Keith was just as prolific a songwriter as he was a performing artist with a distinctive voice. He co-wrote many of his own hits, including “Should’ve Been A Cowboy,” “Wish I Didn’t Know Now,” and “Don’t Let the Old Man In.”
“We live in the greatest city for songwriting of all time, so there’s an endless amount of songs,” Ernest shared. “Every now and then you get to pull a little diamond outta there and a little piece of history, and this is no exception.”
