Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Richard shared why he ultimately didn’t enter the castle.

He said: “I love Celebrity Traitors. I said I would only do it if I could be a Traitor.

“Only because I couldn’t bear… if I was a Faithful, that thing where you go back to your room at night and you’re just lying there.

“You know there’s three people up in that tower, having a load of fun in cloaks and filming something.

“I’d just be lying there going, ‘I could be murdered any second’. I wouldn’t have that control.

“Obviously, they can’t say ‘yes, you can be a Traitor.”

Ironically, GMB star Kate Garraway was one of the 19 stars who entered iconic Ardross Castle.

Jonathan Ross, Clare Balding, Alan Carr and Stephen Fry were also among those taking part.

Celebrity Traitors is set to officially debut on Wednesday, October 8 at 9pm.

It will be broadcast two nights a week, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 9pm.

Discussing hosting the celeb spin-off, Claudia Winkleman said previously: “It’s an absolute honour.

“I could barely breathe when I saw them all in the Highlands.

“I’m such a fan of every single one of them. The whole team were just in awe, it was hard not to scream ‘You’re here!’.

“When I talked to Stephen Fry I almost welled up, I told him: ‘This was my dream.’

“We’re incredibly lucky to have the cast that we have.

“Each one of them is tremendous. They’re incredibly smart and kind.

How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?

The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.

Claudia Winkleman is the show’s host, and has now hosted all three series to date.

How does it work?

It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.

The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in “the ultimate game of truth and deception”.

The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.

While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).

Each night, the Traitors gather to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition

Meanwhile, the traitors can be “banished” if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.

The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.

The prize sees the winner could get £120K.

“They play the game beautifully and were fully engulfed in it.

“It was an extraordinary experience and we’re so, so lucky this 19 said yes.

“It’s something we never take for granted and are so grateful for.”

The last Traitors series ended in January, with faithfuls Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown winning.
