The Kansas City Chiefs have finally found their rhythm.
After a slow and trepid start to the 2025 NFL season in which they lost their opening two contests, things have finally begun to fall into place for Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Co.

There, Kansas City put on a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, with the offense in particular exploiting their advantage due to a depleted Ravens’ defense, with Mahomes lighting up the field for 25-of-37 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns as the Chiefs cruised to a 37-20 victory.
A large part of their success on offense came from the return of wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who was making his first appearance since being wiped out by tight end Travis Kelce on the first drive in the Chiefs’ season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil.
He led the Chiefs in both rushing and receiving, adding 38 yards from just two carries, including a long 35-yard burst, and had five receptions for 83 yards.
Kelce brothers full of praise for Worthy
All-time great tight end Kelce discussed the game with his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason, on their New Heights podcast, hailing the impact that Worthy has already had on the team since his return to the field.
“Taylor’s [Swift] got good taste in football players,” Jason joked. “Worthy went for five receptions, 83 yards, two carries for 38 yards.
“It was just so apparent how much more electric the offense was having him back. I think Xavier deserves so much credit.”
The 22-year-old, is a favorite of Travis’ fiancée Taylor, who admitted in her August appearance on New Heights that she got excited and ran “through the halls of her house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!” when the Chiefs used their first-round pick on the former Texas receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The 35-year-old veteran spoke in more depth about what he sees from his teammate, with much of the surface-level knowledge of one of Mahomes’ favorite targets being about his speed and raw pace.

“The end around, we can throw a little bubble screen out to him, just throw a hitch to him or get him in like a play action pass in the flat. Whatever the play design is, if we get the ball in his hands, it’s even harder for the defense to tackle the guy.”
Worthy has emerged as the Tyreek Hill replacement
The Chiefs have become the NFL’s latest dynasty since they won the Super Bowl championship in 2019, going on to reach the title game five times in the last six seasons, winning three.
However, Mahomes has really lacked an out-and-out No. 1 wide receiver since the departure of Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins in 2022.
With the emergence of Worthy as a star in the making, though, Jason believes the Chiefs have finally found the replacement for the eight-time Pro Bowler that they have long been yearning for.
“Xavier is actually more, at least appearing more and more similar to what you guys lost when you lost Tyreek Hill…” Jason suggested.
“That dynamic ability to do all those things underneath in the gadget plays, it keeps a defense so honest and they have to respect and the box widens. And the safeties have to be ready to react to all that stuff.

Travis fired warning shots to the rest of the NFL, stating that opposing defenses need to keep a particular watch on the speedster going forward, which is advantageous for the rest of the team as they pursue another Super Bowl appearance.
“A lot of attention needs to be put on that guy, man,” Travis said. “And that just makes it easier on everybody. One to five included, offensive line included.
“But I think that even Xavier’s taking his game up to another level…with the ball in his hands, he seems more comfortable.
“He sees the field better. So I think it’s exceeding expectations in my mind, and we just got to keep that thing rolling.”
With Worthy shouldering a huge amount of the offensive load on his return, Kansas City have now rallied back to a .500 record following an 0-2 start to the season, and next take on the in-form Jacksonville Jaguars in a Monday Night Football clash at EverBank Stadium.
