Two SEC coaches earned the spotlight in Monday’s CBS Sports conference HCs of the week for pivotal wins against conference foes.
Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer and Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin both took the honors, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, after standout performances over a weekend brimmed with entertaining matchups across the board.
DeBoer guided the No. 16 Crimson Tide to a 24-21 win over Georgia in Athens, snapping the Bulldogs’ long unbeaten streak in Sanford Stadium that had lasted since October 2019. It also extended the Tide’s head-to-head win streak to three games against their storied rival. Alabama scored three first-half touchdowns and then leaned on a defense that refused to bend in the second half. Ty Simpson threw for 276 yards and three total touchdowns, connecting with Isaiah Horton and Germie Bernard when it mattered most.
Meanwhile, Kiffin’s Rebels continued their 2025 perfection with a 24-19 victory over LSU. It’s their first top-5 appearance since 2009.
Along with DeBoer and Kiffin, the list featured additional coaches across the college football landscape — ECU’s Blake Harrell (American), Virginia’s Tony Elliott (ACC), Oregon’s Dan Lanning (Big Ten), Cincinnati’s Scott Satterfield (Big 12), Louisiana Tech’s Sonny Cumbie (CUSA), Ohio’s Brian Smith (MAC), Hawaii’s Timmy Chang (MWC) and UL Monroe’s Bryant Vincent (Sun Belt).
