‘Can’t help himself’ – Shedeur Sanders slammed for QB remarks as Browns head coach fires back ...Middle East

The NFL world has reacted to Shedeur Sanders’ unerring confidence.

Sanders has faced some intense criticism after claiming he could “do better” than most quarterbacks in the league, but the rookie did receive some words of encouragement from his head coach.

What did Sanders say?

Sanders went viral on Friday after he told reporters he’s ready to play and that he feels like he is better than most signal callers in the league right now.

“I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that,”  Sanders, who was drafted as the 144th pick in April’s draft, said.

“I don’t think playing or not playing is in my hands… I don’t get stressed or feel bad that I’m in this situation that I’m in right now. I would say, it’s just funny to me, that’s it. It’s just funny to me and I enjoy it.”

ESPN Cleveland slam Sanders

Popular radio station ESPN Cleveland reacted to Sanders’ comment, with Browns insider Tony Grossi saying he crossed a line by taking a shot at his fellow NFL colleagues.

“You got to be mindful of what you say,” Rossi said on air.

“And I think that one quote, you know, from what I see around the league, I could do better.”

“I don’t think (there’s malice), but it could come just like when Dillon Gabriel said I’m a competitor not an entertainer, and we just assumed he was talking about Shedeur.

“The same thing you can assume. Shedeur can’t help himself. Right? He’s been out of the limelight. He’s hurting. And this is what he’s best at, giving interviews.”

Sanders is currently the QB3 for the Browns and has yet to get any minutes for the team so far, despite the calls for him to do so.

Joe Flacco has started all three games for the franchise this season, and after struggling in his first two games, the Browns picked up their first win of the season, coming against the Green Bay Packers last week.

Kevin Stefanski on whether Sanders is ready

As always with Kevin Stefanski, the Browns head coach refused to get drawn into the storm with Sanders’ comments.

When asked if the 23-year-old is ready to play, Stefanski praised the rookie but told reporters that he thinks all his guys are ready.

“He’s done a good job. I think all of our guys feel like they’re ready. And they’re working very hard at it,” the two-time AP NFL coach of the year said.

“We’re doing a lot of work with our players, rookies, and offense—all our guys.

Spending every available minute that we have with them, getting them ready physically, mentally, whether it’s in the weight room, the meeting room, out on the field.

“So, all our guys are working very hard.”

It seems unlikely that Stefanski is going to drop Flacco anytime soon, and even if he does, Dillon Gabriel is currently his preferred backup.

That leaves Sanders far away from becoming a starter, which is why he has been subject to trade rumours all season long.

Nevertheless, Sanders is embracing the competition as he also told reporters he is “thankful” for where he is at

“It’s fun going out there and competing every day,” Sanders added.

“I’m thankful for my situation. I’m thankful I’m able to see the ball in a different light and to be able to get a different perspective than I have, and I’m able to grow mentally, physically, emotionally, everything, to become my best self.”
