A SPECIAL forces soldier faces prison after losing secret documents.

The suspect, identified as Soldier A, was granted anonymity at a military court martial in Catterick, North Yorks, yesterday.

He pleaded guilty to “negligently performing his duty” by failing to safeguard the classified papers in December 2023.

Judge Edward Legard warned: “All options are open and that does include custody.”

He is due to be sentenced next month.

The Sun revealed this week that another special forces soldier shot a comrade seven times after mistakenly loading his gun with live bullets in a hostage rescue exercise.

The shooter, known as Soldier B, also admitted performing his duty negligently and received a six month suspended sentence and £5,000 fine.

The victim, named as Soldier A, suffered life-changing injuries and post-traumatic stress and was medically discharged.

Lieutenant Colonel Emma Whiting was moved to tears as she read out his victim statement.

In it, Soldier A said: “There is no doubt, if I hadn’t been wearing my body armour, I would have been shot dead.”
