Police were searching Thursday for a suspect accused of stealing packages from an Irvine apartment community’s mailroom whom they’ve deemed “Postal Malone” because of his resemblance to popular rapper and singer Post Malone.
The suspect, who has tattoos on the right side of his face and his right hand, is accused of stealing an “armload” of packages from an apartment community on Spectrum Center Drive Sunday, Sept. 21, said Kyle Oldoerp, a spokesman for the Irvine Police Department.
“The suspect seems to love everything ‘post,’ including taking postal packages that don’t belong to him,” Irvine police wrote on social media.
Police don’t yet know the value of what was stolen.
“We don’t want to be running in ‘circles,’” the post continued, referencing some of the artist’s popular songs. “We want to say we ‘had some help.’”
Police asked anyone with information to contact detectives at mward@cityofirvine.org.
Since posting on social media, Oldoerp said, the department has received tips about the suspect’s identity, and they hope to contact him soon.
