Are you sitting down? Good.
I know this may come as a surprise, but ESPN did NOT put a single Chicago Bulls player in their Top 10 players of the 2025-26 season. It’s like they didn’t even watch Matas Buzelis last season!
In all seriousness, there did seem to be one significant Chicago Bulls snubbing in the site’s Top 100. While Coby White made the cut (and actually ranked higher than Zach LaVine), the recently re-signed Josh Giddey was nowhere to be seen. A handful of veteran role players and lesser-proven youngsters finished ahead of the guard, including the still-unsigned Jonathan Kuminga. Am I crazy … or is that crazy!? Might I be a tad higher than some on Josh Giddey’s future and immediate impact? Sure, and I can accept that. But I’m also not someone who claims he is a bona fide All-Star or Top 2 player on a winning team. Heck, all I’ve argued is that a $25.0 million annual salary is totally acceptable for a high-end distributor and overall above-average point guard. Once again, the deal makes him the 78th-highest-paid player in the NBA, and this is probably right around where I would rank him on my personal Top 100. I understand that the past two seasons have come with some bumps in the road for the former lottery pick, but he’s still a player who can sneeze a triple-double on any given night. We can’t say the same thing about many other 22-year-olds! WHAT!? Bulls’ Josh Giddey Snubbed From ESPN’s Latest Top 100 NBA Players List Speaking of Josh Giddey, The Athletic Daily had a great discussion about his new deal and the state of the Chicago Bulls this week. I encourage you to give that a watch! New Bulls beat reporter Joel Lorenzi made a simple yet excellent point about why keeping Giddey in the mix felt essential for this retooling team: “If you want your young guys to be better and play faster, Josh Giddey is probably a guard you don’t mind them being around,” Lorenzi said. Does Josh Giddey need the ball in his hands a lot to be the most effective? Absolutely. Nobody is denying that. However, the best version of him makes everybody around him better. The Bulls have a slew of young guys they are trying to develop, and part of doing that successfully is having someone who can make their lives easier on the court. Giddey can certainly be that someone. Particularly when we consider the off-ball strengths of players like Matas Buzelis and Noa Essengue, having an open-floor facilitator like Giddey feels pivotal. The guys on the Chicago Sports Networks’ By The Horns podcast are hammering the Chicago Bulls over this season, and I couldn’t agree more. The Eastern Conference is as wide open as it’s been in years, particularly with injuries to Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton. We can also comfortably assume that head coach Billy Donovan isn’t going to ever play for lottery balls. This is a team that has shown time and again that they aren’t afraid to fight for the Play-In. With that in mind, even if over 32.5 wins is looking a bit suspect early in the year, the Bulls could easily push past that after the All-Star break. That’s when most other losing teams will take their foot off the gas and prioritize development/draft position..@KCJHoop says Bulls over 32.5 wins is the easiest in gambling history ??By The Horns | ? t.co/1GNT0muKCr pic.twitter.com/RyeACuZX1S
