Week 4 of the 2025 college football season is now officially in the books, and there was a ton to unpack from all that went down in what was a jam-packed slate of SEC action.
As he does every week, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic released his Week 4 SEC takeaways for each team that played on Saturday, and they included what he believes every team did well and poorly in their respective matchups.
The thread kicks off with the Arkansas Razorbacks and what went wrong in their most recent brutal loss at the hands of the Memphis Tigers.
His breakdown of the Auburn–Oklahoma game basically boiled down to the Sooners’ defense showing up when they had to, and the Tigers’ offense being unable to get anything going as a direct result.
Cubelic then goes on to break down what he termed “brutal losses” for both the Florida Gators and South Carolina Gamecocks, and states that Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss all had “very nice wins” or “handled their business” in their respective matchups.
Lastly, he broke down what he dubbed an “absolute clinic in the run game” by the Missouri Tigers, and detailed how head coach Eli Drinkwitz and his staff utilized it to perfection to knock off the Gamecocks.
Here’s Cubelic’s full thread of takeaways for every SEC team who played in Week 4:
We do it each week, MY Sunday SEC takeaways…ARKANSAS: Just an absolutely brutal loss. Defense struggled with off tackle runs. Gap scheme stuff kept finding away to bounce. Especially late. 294 on the ground just too much. 3 played hard. 10 was fast. Mis fit some runs. Lost…
— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 22, 2025AUBURN: Tough one. Couldn't get run going. Box count not favorable often. QB made big throws. Missed a few. Needed that mental clock on when to leave or throw away be a tick faster. Legs helped. Took the 1 on 1's. 0 good in pass pro. Some confusion up front with replacement…
— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 22, 2025FLORIDA: Brutal loss. No life on offense. Run game wasn't gonna be there. Couldn't get to 2nd level. — Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 22, 2025LSU: Handled their business. QB on point. Love how he attacked middle of the field. Used legs when needed. Run game still a little slow. Evened formation & got a few runs going & a nice boot completion. Nice game for 6, had a few more he could have gotten. 10 solid at TE.…
— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 22, 2025MISSISSIPPI STATE: Handled their business. OL played hard, fired off. Pad level & feet a bit sloppy. Good getting out in space. — Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 22, 2025MISSOURI: Absolute clinic in the run game & what can be done off of it. Ran a split zone counter variation early, to pin & pull stretch then to traditional. With motion as the 2nd blocker in counter. Then boots off it with screens & mesh concepts all over the place to provide…
— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 22, 2025OKLAHOMA: Big win. DL showed up. Caused problems for 4 quarters. The movement was effective. Edge defenders got off the ball. Outside go balls they were pretty good in man. 65, 52, 0 just plugged it up. Replace defenders did a nice job of disguising & showing up on time. Played…
— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 22, 2025OLE MISS: Really nice win. QB sharp. Adds real run threat. He made good reads in run game. Took free grass in pass game. Operated offense like a vet.
