For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Emery Vannah from Las Vegas, Nevada has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Pitt beginning in fall 2026.
“I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh! Thank you to my Sandpiper teammates and coaches who made swimming so enjoyable and got me to where I am today. I would also like to give a special thanks to my parents and brothers for always for supporting me and Coach Chase for giving me this wonderful opportunity! Go Panthers!”
Vannah swims for the Sandpipers of Nevada and finished her long course season at NCSAs in July. There she swam to numerous best times including a 27.22 50 free, 2:05.86 200 free, 28.42 50 fly, 1:02.17 100 fly, and a 2:22.40 in the 200 IM. Her highest finish came in the 200 IM as she was 15th.
She began her senior year this fall at Doral Academy Red Rock High School. In May she swam to three NIAA 4A State titles as she posted a 1:06.25 in the 100 breast (personal best), a 55.32 in the 100 fly, and swam the breaststroke leg on the team’s 200 medley relay that also earned the win.
Vannah’s Best SCY Times Are:
100 fly: 53.94 200 fly: 2:02.55 100 free: 51.58 200 free: 1:50.09The Pitt women finished 8th out of 15 teams at the 2025 ACC Championships under third year head coach Chase Kreitler. That was the team’s highest finish at the conference level since 2015.
The team went on to finish 28th at 2025 NCAAs with a total of 21 points. Fifth year Sophie Yendell made history at 2025 NCAAs becoming the team’s first All-American swimmer since 1986.
Based on her best times, Vannah is not far off what it took to final at ACCs this past season. It took a 52.69 in the 100 fly and a 1:58.69 in the 200 fly to make it back. Yendell was the team’s top 100 flyer this past season with a 50.83 that she swam for 11th at NCAAs. Rising junior Sydney Gring led the way in the 200 fly for Pitt with a 1:57.01 so Gring and Vannah will overlap for one season.
Vannah is the first publicly announced commitment for Pitt’s class of 2030 on the women’s side.
