Hoffenheim vs Bayern Munich predictions
The 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns showed that Bayern Munich cannot take the Bundesliga title for granted.
In the first of those seasons, Bayern were crowned champions – but only because Borussia Dortmund failed to win on the final weekend. Had they done so, the winners’ medals would have gone to Signal Iduna Park.
Bayern’s luck ran out the following year, as Xabi Alonso’s brilliant Bayer Leverkusen side swept all before them in Germany, winning both the league title and the DFB-Pokal.
Bayern reclaimed their crown last term as Leverkusen proved unable to maintain their level, but the Bavarians are still scarred by their third-place finish two years ago.
Yet although Leverkusen’s recent achievement gave Bayern cause to take rival threats seriously, they remain the overwhelming favourites to finish atop the table in the Bundesliga.
Bayern’s revenue is significantly higher than any of their domestic counterparts. That allows them to spend more money in the transfer market and offer higher wages to players.
In a knockout tournament, Bayern would be vulnerable to being eliminated by Leverkusen, Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt or another team that played well on the day.
But over the course of a 34-game season, it is very difficult for anyone to get the better of Germany’s only superclub.
That is not necessarily good news for Vincent Kompany. On the plus side, his employment at the Allianz Arena gives him a fantastic opportunity to win trophies on a regular basis.
Yet retaining the Bundesliga title might not be enough to satisfy his superiors and the Bayern fan base this term. It is essential that Kompany’s side also make progress in the Champions League, all while not jeopardising their domestic stranglehold.
Bayern got their continental campaign off to a winning start in midweek, defeating Chelsea 3-1 at the Allianz.
Attention now returns to the bread and butter that is the Bundesliga, with Bayern visiting Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Kompany’s men have won each of their three matches so far, while Hoffenheim have won two of theirs.
A 2-1 victory over Leverkusen on the opening weekend caught the eye, and although they subsequently lost at home to Frankfurt, Hoffenheim ran out 4-2 winners against Union Berlin last time out. Bayern will not necessarily have everything their own way at the PreZero Arena.

Bayern Munich were much the better team against Chelsea on matchday one of the Champions League.
The Blues are Club World Cup champions and potential Premier League title contenders, yet they were outmatched by Bayern. That underlines the difficulty of the task in front of Hoffenheim this weekend.
That does not mean the hosts cannot cause Bayern problems, but the latter should ultimately have too much quality.
We anticipate a goal-heavy affair. Over 3.5 goals paid out in Bayern’s victory over Chelsea, as well as in each of their three league games in 2025/26.

Bayern Munich scored 99 goals in the Bundesliga last season. They notched four or more in no fewer than 11 matches.
They could do better in both of those departments this time around. Bayern have already made the net bulge 14 times – an average of 4.66 goals per 90 minutes. In two of those matches, they scored four or more.
Harry Kane is as lethal as ever, even though he has started to drop even deeper than before in big games.
Michael Olise has stepped up a level, Luis Diaz is a threat on the left and Serge Gnabry has done a good job of replacing the injured Jamal Musiala so far. Bayern’s frontline could have some fun on Saturday.

Bayern Munich paid £66m to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool in the summer. The Colombia international pushed for the move in order to secure more regular football elsewhere.
He will not be regretting his choice. Diaz has instantly become a regular starter at the Allianz Arena.
The former Porto man has been effective too, scoring three goals in three Bundesliga games. He was also on the scoresheet against Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
Kane and Olise are Bayern’s two best attackers, but there is better value to be had in tipping Diaz to score against Hoffenheim.
