NFL Week 3 preview: BetMGM predicts three primetime shootouts ...Middle East

Sport by : (The Sun) -

WITH offences beginning to click, points and touchdowns across the NFL shot up in week 2 compared to week 1. Detroit racked up 52, while Baltimore and Dallas both hit the 40-point mark.

BetMGM, who are running a special offer for those signing up during the NFL season, are predicting those three teams to be involved in high-scoring contests once again this coming weekend – having set their three highest points over/under lines for the games in Buffalo, Chicago and Baltimore. We’ll dive into each of these below.

New customers can unlock £40 in free bets upon completing their registration and then, within seven days, having deposited and wagered £10 on any sports market. The package of free betting tokens includes two £10 bet builders, which are a great way to add another layer of excitement to the relentless action on Sunday evening.

Here are three games which, according to the sportsbook, are well worth tuning in for this coming weekend.

Can Miami do anything to stop Buffalo’s free-scoring offence?

It should come as no surprise that the Buffalo Bills, with reigning MVP Josh Allen at quarterback, are one of the top two most explosive offences so far this season. Having snatched a last-gasp victory against the Baltimore Ravens in week 1 – 41-40 with 22 of those points coming in the fourth quarter – they cruised to a 30-10 win against the New York Jets.

Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins have endured a torrid start to the season, being blown out by the Indianapolis Colts and then losing at home to the New England Patriots. The Dolphins have made the playoffs twice in three seasons under young head coach Mike McDaniel, but have perennially struggled to compete with the Bills.

The bookies don’t expect them to come up with the answers to stop them this time either – the Bills are a huge 12-point favourite on the spread, and BetMGM are also expecting around 50 points to be scored, mostly by the home team.

Battle of two beleaguered defences in Chicago

The featured late window game on Sky Sports on Sunday evening will see the Dallas Cowboys, fresh off a dramatic overtime victory against the New York Giants, head to the Windy City to face a Chicago Bears team off the back of a 52-21 mauling against the Detroit Lions.

Both teams have new, offensive-minded, head coaches and quarterbacks who don’t hesitate in pulling the trigger on medium and deep passes. Ben Johnson was lauded as the NFL’s hottest property during the off-season having held the role of offensive coordinator with the Lions, who were the highest-scoring team in the league last season while he was calling plays. He and second-year quarterback Caleb Williams will hope to exploit a Dallas defence that gave up 37 points, and several deep passes to the Giants.

The offence for the Cowboys, however, isn’t a concern. Dak Prescott, having battled back from another season-ending injury in 2024, is looking as good as ever – launching the ball 52 times against the Giants, and completing 38 of those for 361 yards and two touchdowns. With Dak fit and healthy, the Dallas offence has never had any issues scoring points.

BetMGM are essentially calling it a “pick ‘em” contest, and are expecting both teams to go up and down the field, combining for around 50 points.

Baltimore and Detroit meet in headline matchup

As for Detroit, after their struggles against the Green Bay Packers in week 1, they rediscovered their free-scoring form of 2024 in putting up 52 points against the Bears.

Quarterback Jared Goff threw for 334 yards and five touchdown passes, but the Lions were balanced and carved through the opposition on the ground as well as in the air. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 94 yards – with a touchdown – and David Montgomery managed a further 52. The two-headed backfield continues to cause defences around the NFL all sorts of gameplanning issues as it often proves impossible to stop both.

The Baltimore Ravens, however, are the only team to score 40 points (or more) in both of their games. They’ll be hoping a similar performance this time will be enough to secure a huge primetime win, after somehow losing a week 1 thriller with Buffalo having led by two scores with five minutes to go.

BetMGM are backing them to come out on top at home, making Lamar Jackson’s team a five-point favourite in a high-scoring affair – the line for points over/under has been set at 51.5, the highest of this week’s games.
