Former middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin is keen to return to the ring.
Golovkin has been out of action since 2022, when he faced Canelo Alvarez for the third time.
Golovkin is regarded as one of the hardest punchers in boxing historyEd Mulholland/MatchroomDespite his three-year absence, the Kazakh boxer has ensured that he remains involved in the sport.
He was recently appointed the Chair of the Olympic Commission for World Boxing and last week, he even attended the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.
GGG proudly watched on as Kazakhstan took home seven gold medals, one silver and two bronzes.
Reflecting on his country’s top place on the medal table, Golovkin shared: “It’s been so good, it’s very close, every fight has been very close.
“I’m so excited. Everybody is happy. Not just me, but the whole team is happy. Everybody is happy. Boxing fans are happy because it is great to them.”
His excitement naturally shifted the focus on to whether or not we could see the 43-year-old making a return to the ring.
Golovkin simply responded: “Yes, why not? I feel my old emotions here.”
He even hinted at the possibility that he has an opponent in mind, if the time comes for him to lace up his gloves again.
“That’s my secret,” Golovkin said.
His last outing may have ended in a unanimous decision victory for Canelo, but Golovkin had an illustrious career prior to that night – one that he seems keen to continue.
Golovkin won his first world title in his first attempt in 2010Ed Mulholland/MatchroomWhat has Gennady Golovkin achieved in his career so far?
After taking home a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics, Golovkin turned his hand to the professional boxing scene in 2006.
From there, the Kazakhtani embarked on an 18-fight win streak before scoring a first-round stoppage against Milton Nunez to claim the interim WBA world middleweight title.
His first middleweight world title then officially came in December 2010, when he beat Nilson Julio Tapia and upgraded his status to the full WBA title holder.
In 2016, Golovkin made his UK debut as he went toe-to-toe with Kell Brook in London’s O2 Arena.
He successfully retained the world middleweight title as their clash came to an abrupt in the fifth-round, with Brooks sustaining a fractured eye socket.
Just over a year later, GGG and Canelo met for the first time in what would become a trilogy of clashes.

Their first two meetings divided the opinions of both the boxing fraternity and fans alike, with many believing that Golovkin should have been given the nod.
But despite suffering his first career loss 2018 to Canelo, Golovkin went on to become a two-time world champion a year later.
He claimed the vacant IBF middleweight title after winning on points against Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
GGG defended his title against Kamil Szeremeta before unifying the division after beating WBA champion Ryota Murata, with his next fight coming against Canelo to complete their trilogy.
And while it was assumed that he was retired, there is certainly nothing stopping Golovkin making a comeback should he fancy it.
