Brenton Strange (Jaguars) was the highest recommended TE waiver wire pickup this week.
Analysis
Brenton Strange, Jaguars — Rostered in 22% of Yahoo Leagues (Suggested 5-6% FAAB Bid)
A little over a week ago, I listed Brenton Strange amongst my lottery ticket stashes, and the ticket may have already cashed (admittedly not for $1.8 billion like the Powerball). Strange saw just four targets on Sunday, but he caught all four for a team-high 59 yards, including 26 after the catch. Now freed from the shadow of Evan Engram, Strange is probably my favorite breakout tight end candidate in fantasy, and can be acquired on the cheap right now, before he hits everyone else’s radar.
Recommendation: Should be added in some 10-team leagues

Who are the best stashes from the Fantasy Football TE Rankings?
Juwan Johnson (Saints) and Harold Fannin are the best tight end stashes ahead of Week 2.
Analysis
Juwan Johnson – Saints (2% rostered)
In the new-look Saints offense under Kellen Moore, Juwan Johnson came out of the gate and quite literally ran the most routes at the position (47). Whether it’s been Taysom Hill, Foster Moreau, or some combination of poor quarterback play and teammate competition, Juwan Johnson has never fully ascended into Fantasyland. However, he’s been a constant feature in this article over the last few seasons as we use him as a desperation play in positive matchups.
Those times of desperation could be turning into a full-blown usable fantasy piece after his 8-76-0 stat line on eleven targets in Week 1.
This could end up being nothing more than a blip on the radar, but Johnson has shown himself to be productive when given the opportunity, including the last six games of the 2024 season, when he averaged 5.6 targets and 45.2 yards per game. Johnson is worth a look here in Week 2, or at the very least as a stash-able candidate on a team that will need to throw the ball throughout the season. He’s available in 97% of Yahoo leagues.
Harold Fannin – Browns (3%)
There was always a possibility that the third-round rookie would make an immediate impact in the passing game, but they just felt more…slim. Instead, Harold Fannin outright led the team with his nine targets (7-63-0) while running 15 fewer routes than Cedric Tillman and Jerry Jeudy. On top of that, David Njoku was still very much involved, running the second-most routes of the slate (41) at the position.
What can we do with this information? If Njoku is still involved, how can we trust the rookie as a fantasy piece? Well, it may not matter if the Browns continue to run things out of 2-TE sets so heavily. Joe Flacco easily led the week in dropbacks (22), attempts (22), and completions (17) out of those sets, while eight of Fannin’s nine targets came out of those attempts (Njoku had one). Those eight targets led the entire league in those situations, so clearly Kevin Stefanski wasn’t lying when he hinted at Fannin being a focal point of this offense.
The Ravens are coming off a week in which they allowed 41 points, while the Bills’ tight ends scraped together 97 of Josh Allen’s 394 yards through the air. Fannin is available in 97% of Yahoo leagues.
