AUSTIN (KXAN) — At least two people were injured Wednesday morning during an officer-involved shooting near Barton Creek, according to a social media post from Austin Police.
The department said that the two who were injured include an APD officer and "one additional person."
APD Watch Command said that both were receiving care at a local hospital, and that the officer had been shot. It didn't disclose the other person's injuries.
(KXAN Photo/Barrett Tryon)APD also said in its post that it is looking for "at least one" suspect. In a follow-up post, it said that the suspect "is a white male last seen wearing a green shirt and tan pants."
"He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see anyone suspicious, do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately. For your safety, keep clear of the area," APD said.
After the shooting, APD sent a reverse 911 message to phones in the area, which issued a shelter in place. As of 6 a.m., officers were actively searching Zilker Park for the suspect.
