Back on the right side of the ledger, the Cubs beat the Braves tonight in a clean, smooth, relatively calm way. I think a lot of us needed that.
The Cubs didn’t blow the doors off the place, but when Alexis Diaz came offering a bunch of runs on a silver platter to really put the game away, the Cubs graciously accepted his gift. That’s something we’ve been waiting to see.
I suppose they might’ve won it without that, though, since the pitching was so great. You know all the superlatives for Cade Horton already at this point, and they’re all deserved. He once again pounded the strike zone and kept the ball on the ground. Didn’t get a lot of strikeouts today, but he didn’t need them. Good defense behind him, and not a lot of really good contact deep in the air. He is the the Ankin Law “Making It Personal” Player of the Game.
Ben Brown with a one-inning performance to close out the game, eh? Interesting. Interesting.
