In addition, the LIU Sharks were named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.

The weekly honors lead up to the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Presentation on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tennessee. The season-ending awards are in their 39th year.

The five honorees plus honorable mention selections for the FCS National Awards:

FCS National Offensive Player of the Week

Beau Brungard, Youngstown State, QB, Jr., 6-0, 215

Brungard rushed for 264 yards to set YSU and Missouri Valley Football Conference records for a quarterback in a 56-17 victory over Robert Morris. He carried the ball 10 times in under three quarters of action, with a long of 78 yards and a 72-yarder as one of his four touchdown runs. He also completed 12 of 16 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.

Honorable Mention: Matt Colombo, RB, San Diego; Derek Robertson, QB, Monmouth

FCS National Defensive Player of the Week

Brandon Perkins, Bryant, LB, Sr., 6-1, 232

Perkins racked up a career-high 14 tackles as Bryant edged UMass 27-26 for its first win over an FBS opponent in program history. Two of the New Hampshire transfer’s stops went for losses, and two came late in the fourth quarter when the defense forced a three-and-out to give the ball back to the Bulldogs for a game-winning drive. They’re the 12th different CAA Football program to post an FBS win since 2013.

Honorable Mention: Luke Banbury, LB, William & Mary; Ezra Ekuban, DL, Northern Colorado; Bradlee Jones, DB, The Citadel; Rashon Myles Jr., LB, Abilene Christian; GianCarlo Rufo, LB, Georgetown; Terian Williams II, S, Bucknell; Logan Wilson, DL, Indiana State

FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week

Nick Reed, New Hampshire, PK, So., 5-7, 175

Reed drilled all four of his field goal attempts, including a 40-yarder on the game’s final play to lift CAA power New Hampshire (2-0) past Holy Cross 19-16. The Buffalo transfer tied the game with a 50-yarder earlier in the fourth quarter, and he also converted field goals of 33 and 30 yards as well as his one extra-point attempt. He averaged 60.3 yards on four kickoffs.

Honorable Mention: Luke Butler, DL, Butler; Gilbert Brown, P, Charleston Southern; Trajan Sinatra, PK, Idaho State; Michael Wortham, AP, Montana

FCS National Freshman Player of the Week

Kael Alexander, Stetson, QB, R-Fr., 6-4, 210

Alexander completed six passes of 40 or more yards while finishing 11 of 15 for 336 yards and three touchdowns in Stetson’s 59-13 win over Warner. One of the scores went for 65 yards, with Alexander’s 30.6 yards per completion the highest since 2021 for an FCS player with 10+ completions in a game. The performance helped give coach Mike Jasper his first win with the Pioneer Football League program.

Honorable Mention: Rico Bond, WR, Lindenwood; Landen Clark, QB, Elon; Tony Diaz, WR, UTRGV; Dean Mangiocavalla, DT, Georgetown

FCS National Team of the Week

LIU (28-23 win at Eastern Michigan)

The Sharks entered as 22-point underdogs, but they never trailed in their first-ever victory over an FBS opponent (also just the third in Northeast Conference history). Quarterbacks Luke Stanzani (210 yards of total offense) and Ethan Greenwood (196 yards) both rushed for two touchdowns, and linebacker Rafael Fasolino had eight tackles, including on a key 4th-and-1 stop in the fourth quarter. LIU coach Ron Cooper was Eastern Michigan’s coach in 1993 and ’94.

Honorable Mention: Bryant (27-26 win at UMass); Delaware State (37-32 win over UAlbany); Lamar (20-13 win over then-No. 4 South Dakota); South Dakota State (30-24, two-OT win at then-No. 3 Montana State); West Georgia (34-10 win at then-No. 22 Nicholls)
