Over the course of his career, Van Halen credited a number of guitarists with influencing his own sound, from Eric Clapton to Tony Iommi to Allan Holdsworth, per Rock and Roll Garage. Another pioneering axe man who made a huge impression on Van Halen, perhaps unsurprisingly, was Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore.
The lyrics tell a very Deep Purple-esque, supernatural kind of story:
The city's ablaze, the town's on fireThe woman's flames are reaching higherWe were fools, we called her liarAll I hear is "Burn!"
In the same Classic Rock interview, bassist Glenn Hughes reflected on the unlikely song that inspired Blackmore to write "Burn" (allegedly).
"Blackmore came up with that classic rock riff, but there’s a lot of talk about it being ripped from something that was written in the forties," he said. "[George Gershwin’s] 'Fascinating Rhythm,' wasn’t it? I think it could be from that. Every artist borrows from other artists — but this is a classic example of where Ritchie may have taken something from the forties or fifties." ("Fascinating Rhyhm" was actually written by Gershwin in 1924.)

"It’s got a rapid pace about it," Paice explained. "I’ve always said that playing fast is a lot easier than playing slow, because if you play something fast and you screw up, nobody really hears it. But if you play slow and you screw something up, then everybody hears it."
"When he was riffing away in Van Halen, his most notable characteristic was stunning speed," Taylor pointed out. "Similar quick-fire aptitude is displayed by Ritchie Blackmore here, but it is all essentially a two-finger idea. That allows for incredible efficiency across the fret. If you’re aiming for the 196BPM [beats per minute] that Blackmore achieves with this blistering banger, then you’d better know a few shortcuts."
