A driver was killed and a passenger seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash late Friday, Sept. 5 in Fountain Valley.
The crash was reported shortly before 11 p.m. near the Brookhurst Street and Edinger Avenue intersection, according to a Fountain Valley Police Department statement.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as 23-year-old Henry Garcia Correa of Santa Ana.
A 20-year-old male passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
Police said that based on their preliminary investigation, drugs may have played a contributing factor in the crash. But the exact cause of the collision remains under investigation, police added.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Fountain Valley Police Department Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481.
