The NCAA is currently in the middle of reconfiguring and building up committees via the revised governing system.

The transfer portal began on October 15, 2018, with the aim being to have transparent protocols in place for player movement.
As it relates specifically to college football, student athletes have been able to transfer without having to sit out a year since 2021. In 2024, the NCAA ratified a modification to the transfer rule which allowed immediately eligibility for athletes regardless of the amount of times they’ve transferred.
