Entertainment Weekly reported that Spelling shared details about auditioning to be in the first Scream film, which premiered in 1996, during an August 2025 episode of Scream actor Jamie Kennedy's podcast,Hate to Break It to Ya. "My whole life has been a diss, so, like, self-deprecating came at a young age to me, like, because people made fun of me like that. I looked at that and I wasn't like, 'Oh my god, that hurts.' I was like, 'Oh yeah, story of my life. That's funny. I get it. I'm there,'" said Spelling, who wasn't cast in Scream, on the podcast episode.
"I think he thought I was going to be offended and, like, I would never do it. Meanwhile, I was like, I wanted to be, 'Done. I'm in, like, this is amazing,'" said Spelling to Kennedy, who played Randy Meeks in several Scream movies.
"I'm such a small part of your giant franchise and I am inundated happily with Stab stuff weekly. There's posters, there's T-shirts. I was like, ‘Yes! I finally have my face on a feature on somebody's t--s,''" quipped Spelling on her podcast.
"Of course," said Spelling when asked if she would join the cast of future Scream movies given the chance.
