Officials in Evanston were searching Nina Kraus, a Northwestern University School of Communications professor, who was last seen Monday morning.

According to Evanston Police, Kraus 72, was last seen at 9 a.m. Monday leaving her home in the 1500 block of Ashland to go for a walk. Kraus was wearing long pants and a windbreaker, police said.

Kraus is described by police as “very fit,” standing at 5’4” and 140 pounds, with long silver hair and brown eyes.

“Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the Evanston Police Department at 847-866-5000,” police said.

A statement from Northwestern University said Kraus was reported missing by her family. According to the statement, Evanston Police are leading the search for Prof. Kraus, with the Northwestern University Police Department assisting.

“The University is hopeful that with the community’s help, we can find Professor Kraus and assure her safety,” the statement said.

According to Northwestern University’s website, Kraus is a professor of Neurobiology and Otolaryngology, and is a Director at the Hugh Knowles Center.
