DENVER (KDVR) — The suspect in an armed robbery in Brighton on Thursday morning has been arrested.
The Brighton Police Department said a male suspect approached a man at the fuel pumps of a Murphy's Express off East Bromley Lane at about 11:07 a.m. The man who approached displayed a firearm and attempted to take the victim's car. A struggle ensued, and a shot was fired.
The victim was minorly injured in the altercation, and the suspect fled from the scene on a bike.

Shortly thereafter, police were told of a stolen vehicle from a business near Highway 85 and West Bridge Street.
Witnesses said the suspect in the theft matched that of the earlier attempted carjacking suspect.
Additionally, police said that the victim was known to the suspect, and the victim was able to provide potential location information.
Officers found the suspect, identified as Jaime Benavidez, inside the stolen car and attempted a traffic stop, but Benavidez fled, instigating a police pursuit. During the pursuit, police said the suspect fired shots at officers' vehicles. No officers were injured, but officers returned fire and wounded Benavidez.
Benavidez was taken into custody near Brighton Road and East 105th Lane and transported to a local hospital.
During the incident, Brighton High School was temporarily put on secure status, which has since been lifted.
The incident is now being investigated as an officer-involved shooting by the Adams County Critical Incident Response Team. The department did not discuss what potential charges Benavidez is facing, but said the official charges will be filed by the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
