Yung Gravy performance a hit among students ...Middle East

News by : (The Crimson White) -

Yung Gravy performed at Bama Jam on Thursday, taking attendees by storm with his electric performance and hip-hop and trap beats.

Students flooded to the Peter Bryce Preserve and were greeted with rides, treats, a DJ and the headlining performance from Yung Gravy. The front of the crowd was packed nearly an hour before Yung Gravy took to the stage.

Yung Gravy finally hit the stage around 8:40 p.m. and was greeted by a loud roar as he sang “Oops!!!” and interacted with fans. He performed for a little over an hour, singing over a dozen of his songs uncensored.

Students waited anxiously for University Programs to reveal who the event’s headliner would be and were pleased when Yung Gravy was revealed two weeks ago.

“I was already going to go to Gravy’s concert in October,” said Nathan Abbott, a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering, adding he was “hyped” after learning the rapper was coming.

Although groups of students seemed to leave after every song Yung Gravy played, more people flocked in during his set to create an equally balanced and active crowd throughout the performance.

“I think this is the most fun Bama Jam I’ve been to during my time here,” said Anna Hightower, a first year master’s student studying public administration. “I’m a big fan of Yung Gravy, so this is, like, really cool.”

Bama Jam gathered students of all years, seeing a wide range of majors and reactions.

“It’s probably the best Bama Jam I’ve been to,” said Grace Neil, a senior majoring in management information systems and business cybersecurity. “Bama Jam definitely helps get especially some of the new students to go and have fun during their first week of college,” Neil said.

“I think it’s really fun. I think the vibe is really good, and I enjoy the performers,” said Katherin Mayer, a freshman majoring in architectural engineering. “It’s someone that we know, so it’s a lot easier than singing along to someone that we don’t.”

Yung Gravy’s reputation for wild behavior on social media and in pop culture made him a clear frontrunner to come to campus.

“It’s been a meme since freshman year in my friend group that Yung Gravy has been at the top of my Spotify wrapped,” said Addison Miller, a senior majoring in international studies. “Now as a senior, I’m feeling my age a little bit, but this feels like a nice way to close out of my time at UA.”
