Wilson, who is famously the daughter of legendary The Beach Boys’ singer/songwriter Brian Wilson, also went into more detail about their impromptu encounter, explaining, “I just ran into her when we first arrived…I said, ‘Little Darlings is one of my favorite movies ever and The End with Dom DeLuise,’ but it took a lot of courage.” Carnie also shared that Kristy was, “part of my youth” and said, “I told her how meaningful her movies are to me and my bestie.”
During the interview, Wilson went on to explain how she approached the ‘70s and ‘80s superstar: “I said, ‘Hi, I’m Carnie.’ She goes, ‘Oh hi. Oh, I love you.’”
Of course, show host Jeff Lewis teased the singer about McNichol just being polite. But given her recent email, it looks like McNichol could be a bit of a Wilson fangirl too.
Lewis continued the jabs, asking Wilson and McIntyre about the first time they met, at the 1991 Grammys. “It was a little fuzzy back then,” joked McIntyre, who was 18 at the time. Lewis quipped, “Did she rush you too, like she rushed Kristy McNichol?”
After the interview, Wilson posted a series of then-and-now photos of herself and McIntyre (on Instagram) from ‘Jeff Lewis Live’ and at the Grammys in 1991, writing, “So cool to reminisce with @joeymcintyre.”
