Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Jordan Ragland from Roseville, California, has announced his intention to swim and study at the University of California, Berkeley, for the 2026-27 school year, after having previously made a verbal pledge to Louisville. He wrote on social media:
“After a lot of thought and deliberation, I’ve decided to stay closer to home and am excited to share that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of California, Berkeley! I’m very thankful to Coach Arthur and the Louisville staff and athletes for all of their support throughout the recruiting process. I’d also like to thank Coaches Dave, Josh, and Noah for giving me the opportunity to be part of the incredible team at Cal. I’m beyond excited to join the Berkeley family—Go Bears!!”
Ragland is a rising senior at West Park High School. He swims year-round with Life Time Northern California in Sacramento and focuses on a bit of everything, but had big performances in breast and IM this summer.
As a junior at the 2025 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships, he won the 50 free (19.70) and came in 4th in the 100 back (48.71), earning PBs in both events (19.69 in prelims for the 50). He also swam legs on the 200 medley (24.82 50 breast) and 400 free (44.59 100 free) relays. A week later he competed at the California State Meet, where he was runner-up in the 50 (PB of 19.61 in prelims) and 4th in the 100 back (PB of 47.83 in prelims).
This summer, Ragland swam the 50 free and 100 free (PBs of 23.04/51.09) at U.S. Nationals. He wrapped up long course season at Sacramento Futures and unleashed a torrent of PBs: 100 free (51.02), 100 back (59.55), 100 breast (1:02.06), 200 breast (2:15.18), 100 fly (55.74), and 200 IM (2:02.74), while winning the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM.
Best SCY times:
50 free – 19.61 100 free – 43.91 200 free – 1:39.36 100 breast – 55.66 100 back – 47.83 100 fly – 49.69 200 IM – 1:52.14 200 breast – 2:06.85Ragland will join #1 Baylor Stanton, #6 Tim Wu, #10 Albert Smelzer, and #13 JD Thumann in Cal’s class of 2030. Louisville has an outstanding group of commits for fall 2025 –perhaps one of their best-ever classes– with Finnley Conklin, Max Hatcher, Nate Thomas, Nikita Sheremet, Owen Stevens, Ryan Henderson, Ryder Hicks, and Szymon Misiak.
