Caleb Williams thriving in the two-minute drill is all I really needed to see on Friday night.
The Chicago Bears’ preseason finale wasn’t as fun to watch as their previous exhibition game.
Who knew that the Kansas City Chiefs’ starters would be a tougher matchup for the Bears than the Buffalo Bills’ backups?
Nevertheless, it wasn’t all bad for the Bears on Friday night. Because after a sluggish opening, starting quarterback Caleb Williams wrapped up the first half with back-to-back scoring drives. The first was a field goal. Not much to write home about on that one. But that last drive was exactly what you wanted to see from QB1, especially the ending:

— NFL Daily News (@fantasynflnews.bsky.social) August 22, 2025 at 8:51 PMIt was nice to see Rome Odunze bounce back from a drop on a 50-50 deep ball from Caleb to catch that deep corner route and score a touchdown on the next play. Odunze’s connection with Caleb Williams is one of the biggest storylines of the year. If those two can have a breakout campaign, this offense could do enough to hang around (and even win) some games that we’d otherwise not expect them to win.
Caleb Williams finished the first half going 11-for-15 for 113 yards with 1 touchdown and a 116.8 passer rating. His best work came in that two-minute drill, which is where he went 5 of 6, threw for 72 yards, and tossed a touchdown. It would be nice to see that over the course of a full game. Tyson Bagent has now entered the game. The starters are done for the evening. So if you want to go off and enjoy the rest of your Friday night, go do so — but only on the condition that you come back here later (or tomorrow) for full Bears coverage. Deal? Deal!
