This year’s US Open will debut a new-look mixed doubles tournament this week.
The US Open Mixed Doubles Championship has replaced the previous format at the Grand Slam event.

The tournament will also take place during the US Open fan week prior to the start of the main draw.
Matches will be played across Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium.
A $1million (£750,000) prize is on offer for the winning team, an increase from $200,000 (£150,000) last year.
Amongst those to criticise the decision were 2024 winners Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori.
The Italian duo released a statement in February claiming the decision was ‘solely based on the logic of profit’.
However, they have since been confirmed in the 16-team field for the event.
US Open Mixed Doubles Championship format
A total of 16 teams will play in a two-day knockout tournament across August 19 and 20.
Half of the entries were awarded based on the combined singles ranking of the pairs.
The rest of the field consists of wildcard selections.

Third sets will also be replaced by a 10-point match tiebreak.
For the final, the number of games needed to win each set will be increased to six.
However, the showpiece match will remain the best of three sets with a match tiebreak for the decider.
