LANCASTER, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- An armed and dangerous man was captured for the alleged murder of a 57-year-old man at a Lancaster apartment complex, according to the Lancaster Police Department.
James Singleton, 56, was reportedly taken into custody Wednesday morning in Rock Hill for the murder of 57-year-old Edward Townsend.
Around 9:30 p.m. on August 11, officers responded to the Palmetto Place Apartments on Pardue Street in Lancaster. When they arrived, they found Townsend suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, officials said.
Body found in Catawba River identified as 70-year-old Charlotte man: SheriffInvestigators identified Singleton as the suspect. He was on the run, and police said there was no known address or vehicle associated with him. Authorities described him as "armed and dangerous."
“We are pleased to have achieved a quick resolution in this case, providing justice for the Townsend family. We want to thank our Law Enforcement partners, the public, and the news media for their assistance in sharing Mr. Singleton's photo and providing tips for our investigation," Chief of Police Don Roper said.
