The Israeli army announced on Monday, August 11, that its forces had carried out an arrest operation in the countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, according to a statement in Arabic by army spokesperson Avichay Adraee on X .
Adraee said the operation resulted in the arrest of an arms dealer in the village of Trinjah, conducted by forces from the 226th Brigade under the command of the 210th Division, based on intelligence information and prior field monitoring.
Israeli forces also seized quantities of weapons and military equipment in the village, and interrogated the detainee as part of ongoing investigations.
Adraee affirmed that the 226th Division continues its deployment in Quneitra to disrupt the movements of armed elements and prevent potential threats to Israel’s security, particularly in the Golan Heights area.
A media activist in Quneitra, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons, told Enab Baladi that Israeli forces deployed around 50 infantry troops in Trinjah, accompanied by armored vehicles and intensive reconnaissance drone flights.
Troops searched homes and intimidated residents, the activist said, throwing two stun grenades during the arrest of a young man from the village before withdrawing toward the border fence and reinforcing positions along the frontier.
The Israeli army also expanded its presence around its military bases in Jubbata al-Khashab and Trinjah, while another patrol of three military vehicles entered the village of al-Samdaniyah in Quneitra’s countryside and set up temporary checkpoints there.
Israeli forces have continued to carry out incursions into Quneitra’s villages, most recently on August 9 in the province’s central and southern countryside.
According to a local media activist, a convoy of seven vehicles entered from the Ruihina road toward the Rasem al-Halabi outpost, then moved on to Kudna. The patrol set up a half-hour checkpoint before proceeding to al-Bureiqa, Beer Ajam, and back to Ruihina, eventually returning to base in al-Adnaniyah.
Another Israeli patrol, made up of two vehicles, set up a similar half-hour checkpoint along the Ofania al-Hurriya road in northern Quneitra, opposite the former al-Rihaniyah checkpoint.
Repeated Incursions
On August 3, the Israeli army said it had carried out simultaneous raids on four sites in Quneitra province. Adraee stated on X that Israeli forces seized combat equipment in southern Syria and, in cooperation with field investigators, questioned several suspected arms dealers on site in the village of Hadar.
He added that Israeli forces are deployed on the ground to prevent what he described as “terrorist” elements from establishing a presence on Syria’s border and to protect “Israeli citizens.”
Seizure of Property
On August 2, Israeli forces advanced along the road leading to Trinjah in northern Quneitra. During the incursion, a patrol seized an unfinished building between Trinjah and Hadar and converted it into a military post.
The patrol reinforced its presence with about 40 troops, while additional military vehicles were deployed around the building. Israeli forces warned civilians to stay away from the site, declaring the area a closed military zone.
