Priscilla Smith, a recent graduate of Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana, has announced her commitment to DePauw University for 2025-26.
“I’m beyond excited to finally announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at DePauw University as a Rector Scholar. First and foremost, l want to thank God for His guidance and blessings throughout this journey. And I am incredibly grateful for my parents, friends, family, and the countless coaches who have supported and shaped me into the swimmer and person I am today. A special thank you to Coach Tracy and the incredible coaching staff at DePauw for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. Go Tigers!”
Smith moved a couple of times in high school, but qualified for state championships everywhere she went. In 10th grade, she swam for Hoover High School at the Alabama High School State Meet, placing 3rd in the 50 free (24.47) and 8th in the 100 breast (1:08.00 PB in prelims). In 11th and 12th grades, she swam on the Carmel girls’ varsity team and contributed to their 38th and 39th consecutive state titles. As a senior, she finaled in the 50 free (7th), notching a PB of 23.67 in prelims. In 2024, she won the consolation final with a then-best time of 23.91.
Smith swims year-round with Carmel Swim Club. She lowered her lifetime bests in the 50/200 free, 100 breast, and 100 fly this year, and at the Indiana Swimming Senior State Championships in July, she improved her best LCM times in the 50 breast (35.55) and 50 fly (29.33). Last summer, she earned PBs in the longer versions of those same events (1:11.43/1:22.55).

50 free – 23.67 100 free – 53.63 100 breast – 1:07.05 100 fly – 59.78DePauw competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference of NCAA’s Division III. At the 2025 NCAC Championships, the Tigers placed 3rd out of 8 teams, losing only to Kenyon and Dennison. Smith’s best times would have scored in the ‘A’ final of the 50 free and the ‘B’ finals of the 100 free, 100 breast, and 100 fly.
Smith will join Lydia Buechler, Averie Keating, Olivia Motz, Ava Legates, Nora Boillot, Leah Marshall, Jordan Laba, Gabby Koon, and Sophia Hulen in the DePauw class of 2029.
