Police in a central Illinois town were searching for the suspect who shot two law enforcement officers after responding to a report of a naked man, state police said.
David Jordan, 70, of Gibson City, was last seen unclothed and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to authorities. He may be riding a red bicycle.
At approximately 2:31 a.m. on Saturday, officers with the Gibson City Police Department and Ford County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a naked man walking along Ash Street near South Sangamon Avenue in Gibson City.
Gibson City, a town with a population of around 3,400 residents, is approximately 35 miles northwest of Champaign. When officers made contact with the naked man, who was identified as Jordan, they were met with gunfire, state police said.
The Gibson City police officer and Ford County sheriff’s deputy were both shot and taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Jordan’s house caught fire shortly after the shooting, according to law enforcement. What caused the fire remained unclear as of Saturday evening.
