Core band members Mark Mothersbaugh, Gerald Casale, and Bob Mothersbaughshared in their YouTube docuseries called Devolutionary Times that they had to get permission from the Stones in order to cover their song due to intellectual property laws. And yeah, we put the song on, and it … didn't even feel like it was real. It didn't feel like it was real at all. And then, he jumped up and started dancing around the room, doing his dance. He liked the song."
"He goes, 'I like it! I like it!' And … we had big smiles on our face, like, 'Oh, we're not worthy.' But, you know, all the tension in the room went away, and it was a success, and we were gonna be able to put it on the record. And we were elated, and we flew back to Los Angeles."

Mothersbaugh added to the conversation, "He definitely took the air out of the tires for us. So, we don't know if he was telling the truth or not, but …" Casale interjected, "The more I look back on it, the more I think it was true. It was our introduction to how things really worked in Hollywood."
However the song got on the record, we're glad it did, because it's a funky cover that's fun to listen to. In our minds though, we're going to tell ourselves that Jagger's reaction was 100 percent authentic.
