A NEW Costco policy has shoppers fuming just weeks after it was introduced with members saying they are being ‘pushed’ to rival stores.
The wholesale retailer implemented the change on June 30, changing when certain shoppers could arrive at stores.

Now, after a few weeks, shoppers have started to react and they are not happy.
Only those who pay the top membership price are able to arrive at stores an hour earlier than before.
Costco allows executive shoppers to exclusively shop between 9 a.m. from 10 a.m Sunday through Friday.
On Saturdays, the warehouse opens from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for executive card holders who pay $130 a year for the privilege
The new policy has caused some members to be turned away at the door, pushing them to shop at rivals where they are welcome.
“I was called back from entering by the Check-in lady,” one person wrote on Facebook.
“She informed me that the 9 a.m. opening was only for ‘Executive’ members. She told me that I had to come back at 10am or I could sign up for the Executive card.”
“Costco is losing customers with their gestapo rules.”
“They’re so afraid of losing business that they’re pushing customers away,” she continued.
“I also have a BJ’s card,” she said.
“They don’t make me sign in to enter or harass me & besides they open at 8am in the summer.”
The shopper said she will not be renewing her Costco membership.
Other customers have taken issue with the idea that they are being asked to pay more for what was once the norm.
“On one hand, it gives early risers or those with busier schedules a chance to shop more comfortably,” another Facebook user posted.
“On the other hand, some members might not be thrilled about paying extra for access to what used to be part of the standard membership.”
“Costco: where even the early bird has to pay a little extra for the worm,” another quipped.
A third simply called it “a terrible policy”.
But not everyone is annoyed, with many Executive members enjoying the less crowded stores and feeling their money is getting them a worthy benefit.
The hour change comes nearly a year after Costco hiked its membership prices.
Standard membership fees increased by $5 to $65 a year last September while the executive membership went up by $10.
But the price spike didn’t seem to reduce sign-ups.
Executive memberships increased 9% year-over-year to 37.6 million, according to Costco’s latest earnings report.
